Session 11

Game Date: 12/23/2022

We go to the forest. Find Killius and Lyric and the garden hippies. Killius talks about getting jacked by Cleo Pipe who also burned the caravan. Didn’t feel Killius et al was dedicated to the cause. Cleo works with the green armband people. Killius says rest of caravan on its way.

Wants to find Cleo Pipe. Was seen in the town of Ash several weeks ago.

Killius talked about how the trees are stronger, perhaps by Jaree’s presence.

We go back to Ash – see Gladius at the NetherCyclone. Gladius tells us that Vario the Imp is his boy. Vario is on assignment – tracking Cleo Pipe. Says Pipe is not human, not sure what he is. Has known Pipe for a few years – a troublemaker, man of power. Knows that he’s running the Cult of Absconsion. Says Pipe is somewhere on the southern coast. Ash may know Killian if he’s rich. Says Jaree seems to be searching for something.

We go to Silver Hall. Ash doesn’t know Killius, doesn’t like Pipe. Pipe isn’t welcome.

After hearing owl noises, we go outside. Rel calls out to him “Jaaa-reeee”. He lands by some building – lands on the roof. Jaree is 4 times larger than last time we say him.

“Welcome, Rel. I’ve been looking for you”

Jaree talks about how he’s grown in power. Says fadings have been minimized – due to some good will in the area. Apparently the live music imbued Jaree with power which allowed him to heal the forest. He says he’s dying – needs us to find an artifact. Woven Tunic will help him regenerate. Says Tunic is near town of Wind Bay. Seek out Sir Gibbons. Gibbons was once a great warrior – now a farmer who tends a market. Rel tells Jaree about our trip to the woods. Jaree says the hippies have been caring for him as much as possible. Jaree doesn’t know Vario. Jaree speaking in common, which wasn’t the case before. Kex tries to jump to pet Jaree. Jaree lands and lets Kex pet him.

We go to Wind Bay, which may or may not be a retirement community for senior pirates.

Hilly area, sailing community, small island off the coast.

We roll into town – see signs for in and tavern.

We go to Gibbons Markets. Squash is for sale. Sir Gibbons comes out says hi, we talk squash. We tell him that an owl told us about him. We tell him about the Tunic. Says rumored to be nearby. Rumors of an inland cavern or the cave on the island. Tells us about Neves, the tavern. Nevis has a closet-sized museum.

Lux buys half a dozen squash. Cooky is really into it. Gibbons talk about how he used to have more stores but Fairsley nudged him to just one store.

 

We go to the hook tavern. There’s a band with a harmonica playing and ken knows way too much about some blues traveler song. Rel asks about the cave. McGwinn tells us of dancing lights around the islands. Started maybe five or six years ago. Sounds like nobody here as really checked. We talk to Lt. Wafford about renting a boat to go to the island.

Kex does a flip, and chugs a beer for some reason – attracts some attention. We pay 20g (Rel pays 10) to get a ride to the island. First thing in the morning.

Kex asks some guy what he’s looking at. He dug the flip. Kex shows off an does another flip onto the couch with feet propped up on table.

Kex goes to talk to Neves. Talk about the museum. Tells about how the town was founded by the Hutchison brothers. Both were slain in the same jacket. Says his town invented the hoop and the stick game. Hoop boom. Kex tells Neves about hooping.

We head to the docks in the morning.  Lt Wafford and his mates are waiting. Boat is called the Seakeeper. Cooky comes with. Hands out some food.

We head out to the island. A few football fields long, one football field wide. Large hill. We head to the woods and hear hissing and clicking. Rel goes to scout it out. Doesn’t see any footprints or anything of nature. Colder than expected. Nothing to note – visibly. As Rel gets to the hill, he sees a small cavern. Rel double back and tells us.

We go to the cave. Very dark cave on the inside. Rel leads the way. Air is thick and smells. Something is clearly dead inside. Stagnant air.  We look down pathway and see flash of light, with a small sphere glowing in the pathway. Makes a hissing and clicking sound and disappears. We follow Rel, who notices a trip wire. We avoid trip wire, keep walking down the hallway. We hear weird noises, shuffling, making metal.

Rel sees some humanoids at a table. Armed. Maybe with a tail. We go a different direction. Kex finds a corpse. It was previously crushed beyond all belief. Corpse has leather pouch, Kex grabs it, 20g – gives it to Lux.

Lux scales up this hill where the light was coming from. Notices a fire, knows there are creatures. Rel stealths up on heads up the embankment toward the fire. Overhears common. Laughing at a story about adventurers being killed. Drunken talk of sorts. Rel advances and sees several humanoids by a fire. A few goblins and other things. Rel disguises himself as a goblin. Rel waves at us. Rel advances towards fire. Sees goblins and a lizardman. Rel talks to some goblin who thinks he was on patrol. Lizardman hisses and clicks a little.  Goblin mentions ogres likely killed the corpse a month ago. There are four goblins and two lizardman. Talks about lizardman and boats. Grog is consumed.

Rel comes back and tells us what’s up. Kex cooks up scheme – gives Rel 10 gold to support a story that the lizardmen were holding out. Rel goes back up the hill. Quizzical looks. Rel tells them the lizard folk dropped the gold/holding out.

Rel talks with goblins about what to do. One goblin suggests shaking down the lizardmen in that camp. Rel tries to stab the lizardman, misses. Goblins fired up. Rel kills the lizardman second time around. One of the goblins pulls a weapon on Rel. Kelvin, the goblin with a name, engages in the fight. We all fight.

Kex brings a corpse up to an altar/idol and slits the goblins throat – puts blood into basin and it sublimates.    There’s a rotting chest – Kex learns the chest was a trap but disarms it and opens it. Two balls of light appear. INITIATIVE/FIGHT

When we kill the last ball of light, it makes hissing and clicking sounds like the lizards did. In the chest is a gold bar, a small cube made of metal, AND A FINELY WOVEN WOOL TUNIC. Kex tries spitting water into the idol – water sublimates.

We head east – rel wears his goblin feet boots or whatever. Finds a pressure trap that we avoid. We hear some very deep (sonically) breathing. We roll up – fireplace, dead body. Searches body finds 35g, and a golden figurine that looks like an owl and a strange strap of leather. Rel determines that the figurine and strap are magical. We see a large owl statue. Nothing happens when Rel puts owl figurine in owl statue. Now sounds like heavy breathing is behind us.

We keep moving, breathing seems like it’s ahead of us/south. We start heading back – find Cookie who is excited he found some Red Moss. “Gotta cook something with it”.

We roll up on the LizardPeople – INITIATIVE.
