Appearing as an owl or a large bird, Jaree is the watcher of the Fading Forest north of Ash.
He connects with Rel and reveals the truth that the woods are fading just the same as living creatures. Provides Lux with a magic feather for a quill. Refuses any offer of help from the group, saying as its guardian, he will die with his woods.
Later appears in the town of Ash, watching over Rel.
After assuring himself that the adventures were safe and in good hands, Jarree returned to his woods to die. However his presence caused the woods to heal, and to resist the fade. The adventuerers undertook a quest to find a magic garment that could heal Jaree. Basically an ugly Christmas sweater, the garment was unwoven by Jaree and sewn into his nest bed, restoring him to power.
With both himself and the forest restored, Jarree now oversees a large population of devotees, pilgrims, warriors, and tradesmen who have flocked to the safety of his woods. The primary protagonist of the adventure, Jaree has taken the ranger Rel under his figurative wing as his second.
